Clemson University’s track and field teams achieved several record-breaking performances during the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida, and the Wake Forest Invitational, according to an April 18 announcement.

The results highlight notable achievements by Clemson athletes across multiple events. Aniyah Kitt broke her own school record in the women’s 100-meter invite with a time of 11.11 seconds. Other standout performances included Shaneal Clarke Giddings’ run of 2:05.20 in the women’s 800-meter invite, placing her tenth on Clemson’s all-time list, and strong relay showings from both the women’s 4×100-meter team (third-fastest in school history) and the women’s 4×400-meter team (second-fastest all-time).

In field events at Tom Jones Memorial, Kendra Dye won the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 61.95 meters—fourth-best ever for Clemson—and Kimeka Smith placed ninth in shot put with a throw that also ranks fourth all-time for the program. Freshman Matthew Phillips tied the freshman record by clearing 5.05 meters in men’s pole vault.

Additional highlights include Oneka Wilson finishing fifth in the women’s 100-meter hurdles invite final at 12.98 seconds, Brandon Pottinger winning men’s high jump by clearing 2.12 meters, and Shantae Foreman earning third place in women’s triple jump invite with a leap of 13.80 meters.

At Wake Forest Invitational, Nancy Cherop remained fourth on Clemson’s all-time list after running a time of 4:12.68 in the women’s 1500m invite; Elizabeth Ilanda (34:30.65) and Emily Lamontagne (34:34.33) posted third- and fourth-best times respectively for Clemson in women’s 10,000m; while Gladys Chepngetich won the women’s 800m invite followed closely by Judy Kosgei.

Looking ahead, Clemson is scheduled to compete next at Penn Relays from April 23 through April 25.
