The Clemson softball team was selected on May 10 for the Athens Regional in the NCAA postseason, marking its sixth consecutive appearance. The Tigers received the No. 6 seed in a year when the NCAA is seeding teams one through eight in each quadrant.

The selection means Clemson (32-20) will face UNC Greensboro (42-17) in their opening game of the double-elimination regional, scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time on ACC Network. Georgia, seeded No. 10 overall and No. 3 within its quadrant, will host Charleston later that evening at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

According to the announcement, “For the sixth-straight year, the Clemson Softball team has made an NCAA postseason appearance with the latest selection to the Athens Regional hosted by the No. 10 seeded Georgia.” The statement also said that this is only Clemson’s seventh season as a program and they have qualified for every tournament they were eligible for since their first appearance in 2021 at Tuscaloosa.

The winner of this regional will advance to a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional against whoever wins from Knoxville’s bracket. In previous years, Clemson has both traveled and hosted regionals as a top-16 seed.

Clemson joins seven other Atlantic Coast Conference schools selected for this year’s tournament: Florida State (No. 3), Duke (No. 3), Virginia Tech (No. 5), Stanford (No. 5), Virginia (No.7), Louisville (No.8), and Georgia Tech.
