Clemson University’s track and field teams collected several event victories, relay titles, and top-five finishes at the Texas Relays, which concluded on April 4. The Tigers’ performance included standout wins in the men’s 100 meters, women’s sprint medley and distance medley relays, as well as the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
The results highlight Clemson’s strong showing across both track and field events during the multi-day competition. Several athletes also achieved marks that placed them among the program’s all-time best performances.
On day one of the meet, Matt Auble finished sixth in the men’s hammer throw with a distance of 61.73 meters, moving him to fifth on Clemson’s all-time list. Ella Brooks and Kendra Dye earned eighth and ninth place respectively in the women’s hammer throw. Sophia Curtis ran a time of 59.56 seconds for a 21st-place finish in the women’s 400-meter hurdles preliminaries.
Day two saw Kevin Collins win the men’s 100-meter timed final with a time of 10.25 seconds. The women’s team secured first place in both the sprint medley relay (3:40.62) and distance medley relay (11:28.95). Sharvis Simmonds advanced in the men’s 110-meter hurdles with a qualifying time of 13.67 seconds while Aniyah Kitt qualified fifth for finals in the women’s 100 meters at 11.16 seconds.
On day three, Grant Holliday, Collins, Ayomide Oyetunji, and Daniel Kidd claimed victory for Clemson in the men’s 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:05.92 minutes; Jalen Johnson was runner-up in the men’s invitational 200 meters at 20.50 seconds; and Clemson’s women’s team took third place in their own section of the sprint relay.
The Tigers will take a week off before splitting their squad between two upcoming meets: The Tom Jones Invitational held April 17-18 in Gainesville, Florida, and Wake Forest Invitational from April 16-18.
