Clemson Track and Field announced on April 1 that its athletes will participate in two major meets in Texas this weekend: the Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos.
The events are significant opportunities for Clemson’s athletes to showcase their skills against national competition. Both meets are scheduled from Thursday, April 2 through Saturday, April 4, with live results available on AthleticLive and streaming coverage of the Texas Relays provided by ESPN+.
The Tigers will open their weekend at the Texas Relays with throwers Mary Ella Brooks and Kendra Dye competing in the women’s hammer throw, followed by Matthew Auble in the men’s hammer. Sophia Curtis and Jayden Brown will take part in the women’s 400-meter hurdles preliminaries to close out Thursday’s events. After these competitions, Brooks, Dye, and Auble are set to travel to San Marcos for additional throwing events at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Friday features a busy schedule for Clemson at both venues. At the Texas Relays, a large group of sprinters is entered into the 100-meter preliminaries. Bianca Martinez will compete in high jump while junior Tia Stapleton takes part in long jump. Relay teams—including both men’s and women’s squads—will also be active across multiple races such as the 4×100 meters, men’s 4×400 meters, women’s sprint medley relay (SMR), and distance medley relay (DMR).
Saturday’s championship events highlight key performances from Shyhiem Scotland and Brandon Pottinger in men’s high jump, Divine Aniamaka in triple jump, Jalen Johnson running the invitational 200 meters, as well as strong relay entries for Clemson including teams entered into both men’s and women’s races like the 4×200 meters, 4×800 meters, concluding with participation by women’s team members in the final event—the women’s 4×400 meter relay.
