Sophomore Marian Collins became the first player in program history to hit three doubles in a single game, helping the Tigers secure a 3-1 win over the College of Charleston in an elimination game at the Athens Regional on May 16.

The achievement by Collins played a key role for the Tigers, who improved their season record to 33-21. The team faced early pressure but managed to take control after Collins’ first double brought home freshman Mac Pavese for an initial lead.

Freshman Lexie Hames made her postseason debut as pitcher and struck out four batters through two innings. Hames allowed only two hits over four innings before being relieved by junior Sierra Maness and then Macey Cintron. Cintron recorded both outs with runners on base, preventing further scoring from the Cougars.

The momentum shifted further when Pavese doubled again in the sixth inning, followed by a fielding error that put runners on base. Collins delivered her third double of the night to give Clemson a decisive lead, while Corri Hicks added another run with a sacrifice fly. Cintron earned the win after pitching nearly two innings with one strikeout, and graduate Abby Dunning closed out the game with two strikeouts for her second save of the year.

The Tigers are scheduled to play UNC Greensboro next in another elimination matchup later that evening.
