AnMed Health issued the following announcement on September 10.

September is AFib Awareness Month! Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is the most common heart rhythm disorder. A major concern with AFib is that it increases the risk of developing blood clots in the heart. This can lead to a blood clot traveling to the brain and causing a stroke or blocking blood flow to other critical organs. People with AFib are five times more likely to have a stroke than people without the condition. If left untreated it can also lead to heart failure.

Mark your calendars for an AFib screening and health fair on September 29 at the AnMed Health AFib Clinic. Drop in any time from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. for AFib screenings and education by Melinda Jenkins, DNP as well as screenings for sleep apnea by a respiratory therapist, nutrition information by a clinical dietician, cardiac education by the Chest Pain Center Coordinator and a Covid-19 vaccine clinic. This event is open to the public. AnMed Health’s AFib Clinic is located at 100 Healthy Way, Suite 1210, Anderson, SC 29621.
