Pickens County issued the following announcement on September 18.
County staff is hard at work and ready to fix our roads!
County Council passed Ordinance No. 602 Monday night, allowing Pickens County to move from a 75+-year road repaving cycle to a 25-year repaving cycle that is congruent with the life cycle of our roads. Staff immediately started developing a more sustainable road repaving schedule in anticipation of funds that will begin coming in this fall. Today, County Administrator Ken Roper met with Roads and Bridges Director Michael Clark and County Engineer Rodney Robinson onsite in one of the areas that is expected to be among those highest on the priority list. The repaving schedule is being revised to reflect the impact of the new sustainable funding, and more information will be available to the public in the coming weeks.
