Pickens County Library System recently issued the following announcement.
Join us for an author talk on Saturday, January 29th at 1pm at the Easley library. Author, Rita Shuler, will talk about how she solved a 37 year old cold case of murder. In 1978, Gwendolyn Elaine Fogle was surprised in her own home late one night during what appeared to be a foiled robbery. She was beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled with a fireplace poker in a violent slaying. Shuler, a special investigator for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), took the hunt personally, vowing never to rest until the culprit was caught. Join us as Shuler details the gruesome history of this murder and how it was solved.
