West Pelzer ranked 141st in South Carolina for the percentage of households receiving food stamps in 2020, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

There were 69 West Pelzer households (19.3 percent) who received food stamps. West Pelzer's population was 1,049 in 2020.

The city with the largest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Newry, which had 32 of 49 households receiving food stamps, 46 percent more than West Pelzer. In 2020 the population of Newry was 98.

The city with the lowest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Kiawah Island, which had four of 920 households receiving food stamps, 18.9 percent less than West Pelzer. In 2020 the population of Kiawah Island was 1,772.
