Anderson University Named to The Great Colleges to Work For Honor Roll

For the third consecutive year, Anderson University is one of the best college workplaces in the United States, according to one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country.

For the 2022-2023 academic year, The Great Colleges to Work For© program placed Anderson University on its Honor Roll—it is one of only two institutions of higher education in South Carolina to receive that designation—as AU was lauded in all 10 of The Great Colleges to Work For recognition categories.

“Being recognized as a Great College to Work For for the third consecutive year is an achievement of which our campus community should be proud,” said Anderson University Senior Vice President for Administration and Brand Omar Rashed. “Ours is a workplace culture built on transparency, employee feedback and entrepreneurship across all departments. Our Honor Roll distinction speaks not only to the deep satisfaction our employees have in their work, but also to their appreciation of the Christian community we intentionally foster. This is a proud day for Anderson University and the men and women who are a part of our campus family.”

Anderson University was one of only 46 four-year institutions named as a Great College to Work For this year. It is one of only two in South Carolina named to the Honor Roll for 2022-2023.

Anderson University received high marks in all 10 recognition categories: Job Satisfaction and Support; Compensation and Benefits; Professional Development; Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness; Confidence in Senior Leadership; Mission and Pride; Faculty and Staff Well-Being; Faculty Experience; Shared Governance; and Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.

Now in its 15th year, The Great Colleges to Work For© program recognizes the colleges that get top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies. It includes a two-part assessment process: the ModernThink Higher Education Insight Survey© administered to faculty, administrators, exempt professional and non-exempt staff, and the ModernThink Higher Education Institution Questionnaire© (IQ) which captures employment data and workplace policies and practices from each institution.

Recognition analysis for the Great Colleges to Work For program is conducted by ModernThink, an organizational development firm with particular survey and “Best Place to Work” expertise. The principal factor in deciding whether an institution receives recognition is the feedback from employees collected from the ModernThink Higher Education Insight Survey©. The institutional policies and practices information collected through the ModernThink IQ provides supplemental insight to the employee survey, and is reviewed and analyzed both for completeness and content.

“While the Higher Education space is generally not well known for its agility or its ability to affect change quickly, the institutions recognized in this year’s Great Colleges to Work For program have proven otherwise,” said Richard K. Boyer, principal and managing partner at ModernThink. “They’ve managed and orchestratedchange rather than be victims of it, all the while remaining true to their stewardship of the institution’s culture.

“In a year when the Higher Education headlines have been dominated by stories of faculty and staff being overworked, undervalued, highly stressed and fighting off burnout, it’s refreshing and inspiring to see the truly excellent work being done at this year’s Great Colleges to Work For honorees,” Boyer said.
