DisruptHR Event Coming to Columbia | Anderson University
DisruptHR is an information exchange designed to energize, inform and empower people in the HR field.
DisruptHR Greenville took place January 24 at the Greenville One Center. During the event, 14 speakers gave presentations meant to provoke new thoughts and ideas to change the landscape of Human Resources.
According to Whitney Storz, Corporate Event Coordinator at the Anderson University College of Business, DisruptHR is a global organization whose goal is to challenge HR management leaders, give them new perspectives and ideas, and allow them to embrace a changing culture.
The Anderson University College of Business owns the rights to DisruptHR for Greenville and recently purchased the rights for DisruptHR in Columbia, South Carolina. The Disrupt Columbia event will take place May 16, 2023.
“Innovation is one of the top values in our department, so our Dean Steve Nail completed one of these and said this would be perfect because it aligns with our values and focuses,” said Storz.
Storz explained that DisruptHR is a “TED Talk” style event that is structured so that every presenter gets five minutes with automated rotating slides that rotate every 15 seconds.
“It is a very difficult presentation to give. Everyone in the room can see your slides and they’re automatically rotating, whether you’re prepared for it or not,” Storz said. “We have a bunch of different speakers; they apply for DisruptHR. We go through the applications and choose different ones. We also try to bring in our own local sponsors and partners as well.”
The DisruptHR event offers SHRM and HRCI credits, something essential for HR professionals to be recertified.
“Obviously from the AU side we always love promoting our grad certificates and our MBA and MOL program, which helps us to say the least,” Storz said.
