On April 26, Congressman Duncan made the following statement in response to the United Kingdom Competition and Markets Authority blocking Microsoft’s $75 Billion acquisition of Activision due to foreign regulatory antitrust overreach.
“It's disappointing to see the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority block Microsoft's acquisition of Activision. Foreign jurisdictions interfering with American business deals is a concerning trend that inhibits American economic sovereignty and security,” said Congressman Jeff Duncan.“The U.K. blocking Microsoft's acquisition of Activision sets a dangerous precedent for innovation and growth. I questioned the Federal Trade CommissionChair about this practice in a hearing last week and called on the United States Trade Representative and the Department of Commerce to put a stop to this last month. Unaccountable bureaucrats in foreign antitrust agencies should have no authority over American business dealings. The Biden Administration should make stopping this anti-American business practice a priority. I will keep fighting this to protect American businesses from foreign interference to safeguard our economy from this
