6.1% of Oconee County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Oconee County recorded an unemployment rate of 6.1% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 2,090 people out of the 77,932 living in Oconee County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Oconee County has remained fairly stable compared to the 6.1% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Oconee County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.3%.

Of the 32,391 people who had a job during that time, 21 were employed in the Armed Forces and 32,370 belonged to the civilian labor force.
