2022: 35 coaches at institutions in Pickens County earned on average $375,419

Pickens County’s 35 coaches earned an average salary of $375,419 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the highest average salary per county earned by coaches at South Carolina post-secondary schools during 2022.

Pickens County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Clemson University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $832,856.

Male coaches of men's teams received $967,787 on average in Pickens County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $155,043.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
